FAQ’s

What is the current accreditation status of the Direct entry Nursing-Associate of Applied Science program?

On June 30, 2023, the college received a decision from ABHES informing the college that their decision was final, that FCSON must acknowledge the teach-out agreement and maintain it, and is now directed to teach out all students in the AAS (direct track only) as required by ABHES.

While the current accreditation status for this program will remain in effect during the teach-out period for all currently enrolled AAS direct track-only students, the college remains accredited for this program through the end of the teach-out period, August 16, 2024.

We remain committed to providing the best education possible to our students in hopes of them achieving their goals.

Why did ABHES withdraw its program approval for the Direct entry Nursing-Associate of Applied Science program?

ABHES determined that the Direct entry AASN program did not meet the required minimum standard of 70% for placement (employment). Placement is defined as verifiable employment in the field of study (ie: RN or LPN).

What is Felbry College doing to solve the problem?
  1. FCSON is continuing to work and support all students in this program.
  2. When Covid was winding down in early 2022, the school called all of our graduates over several weeks to assist them with remediation and to achieve their goal and be placed. The college at NO COST to the student, offered registration in the VATI NCLEX preparation program, which includes pairing each student with one-on-one nurse educator who will help remediate the student to prepare for NCLEX. Only a few people took advantage of the opportunity in which they were successful with NCLEX and placed (employed).
  3. Data demonstrates that students who take the exam within 3 months have a better opportunity to pass and be placed. We do know that when graduates are finished, the school has very little control over the choices in which the students make related to continuous exam preparation and completion. Therefore, graduates are encouraged to take the exam in a timely manner and verify placement with the school.
How does this impact current Felbry College students?

Current students enrolled at Felbry will graduate from an accredited program.

What can you do as a current student or graduate?
  1. Continue to focus on your course work and your exams.
  2. Make sure that you schedule your licensure exam in a timely manner.
  3. Take advantage of all school offered resources for studying for licensure exams.
  4. Report employment data to the school in a timely manner.
